FAQ

Q. What is the Oregon Club of Seattle? Is it a recognized non-profit organization?

A. The Oregon Club of Seattle (OCOS) is all volunteer non-profit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Washington.  A non-profit - or not for profit - is an organization that does not distribute funds to shareholders or members.  Instead, a non-profit uses any funds to support the purpose of the organization, in this case, Oregon athletics.

The OCOS is not a tax exempt, 501(c)(3) organization.  The term "non-profit" refers to a legal status for an organization under state law, while the term "501(c)(3) tax-exempt" refers to that organization's tax status under federal law.
